Vieirinha earns PAOK draw in Greek Cup tieOlympiakos 1-1 PAOK A late goal from Portuguese midfielder Vieirinha saw PAOK come away from the first leg of their Greek Cup quarter-final against Olympiakos on level terms.
PAOK travelled to the current Super League leaders looking for a positive result to take back to the Toumbas Stadium for the return leg in two weeks time. The visitors almost reached the interval with the match goalless, but Francois Modesto broke the deadlock to put Olympiakos ahead on the stroke of half time. The Thessaloniki side looked set to leave Piraeus with a one-goal deficit, until Vieirinha popped up with his 9th goal of the season. The former Porto man broke from midfield to get on the end of a long ball forward, managing to get the ball under control with his first touch before poking his finish past Antonios Nikopolidis. PAOK, who have won the Greek Cup four times in their history, will host the return leg on Wednesday 2nd March. The match comes four days before a top-3 clash with Panathinaikos, who are one place above Vieirinha’s men in 2nd place in the Super League.
