PortuGOAL podcast: Portugal’s wing wizards – Nani’s brilliance, Ronaldo’s wrath
Winter transfers, World Cup squad, Liga Sagres
Following Nani’s scintillating performance for Manchester United at the weekend, the PortuGOAL crew analyse what has led to the upturn in the former Sporting player’s fortunes and his possible impact on the Seleccao. Ronaldo’s recent goals, trials and tribulations in Spain have brought praise and criticism in equal measure – we discuss.
As usual there is a round-up of the domestic scene as Braga continue to ride high at the top of the Liga Sagres, hotly pursued by Benfica, and we throw listeners the not-too-testing challenge of beating us at the prediction game.
Part One: Nani produced the performance of his life to rip apart Arsenal at the weekend. What has triggered his recent superb form? Ronaldo continues to bear the brunt of a non-too-complimentary press as he picks up two red cards in quick succession. Is the criticism unfair or does the Portuguese sensation bring it upon himself?
The winter transfer market saw plenty of movers among Portuguese players hoping to earn a place on the plane to South Africa. Have Tiago, Edinho, Eliseu and the like made the right decision? And as Ricardo Quaresma and Manuel Fernandes stay put, will they do enough to persuade Carlos Queiroz to include them in his World Cup squad?
Part Two: A look back at Braga’s win over Sporting in the big game last weekend. Pedro Mendes returns to Portugal and Porto’s attempt to boost their strike force collapses. Is this the best Benfica team in two decades and how much of a role does their fervent support at the Estadio da Luz play?
Part Three: Time to get out the crystal ball. The panel members give their predictions on the weekend action in the Liga Sagres as one of the most exciting championship races in years plays out another chapter.

It's so obvious. He was playing badly for United on the left and then didn't get playing time, Portugal call him up nonetheless and he performed extremely well. Why? Because they put him on the right!
Nani to be Portugal's right winger, Simão to be Portugal's left.
Ronaldo should be our striker with Liedson. Let Coentrão, Varela and Quaresma perform to get into the side.
Also, if Nani is doing so well at United why should they put Valencia in his place? Why not put Valencia on the left? Or just leave him on the bench?
