Former Sporting prospect Caiado headed for Zaglebie Lubin

Portuguese duo training in Poland

caiadoFormer Polish champions Zaglebie Lubin look set to bolster their squad on return to the top flight with the addition of Portuguese pair David Caiado and Fernando Dinis.

26-year-old defender Fernando Dinis was released by Beira-Mar in December, having previously spent time at Boavista as well as several lower league clubs in Portugal. Dinis has been training in Lubin and is expected to be handed a short-term deal by manager Andrzej Lesiak.

"I do not understand the language, of course, but there are no great barriers to communication, because I speak English. I noticed that the players understand each other and create a really cool collective. During training, all are properly focused, disciplined. This is really an interesting team,” Dinis told the club‘s official website.

Striker David Caiado (pictured) has been given permission by his club, Trofense, to travel to Poland and is also training with the team. A former Sporting academy prospect (2001-2005) Caiado was once considered a very promising young talent at Alvalade. However, the 22-year-old has seen his star diminish somewhat in recent years at Estoril-Praia and Trofense.

Caiado is a Portuguese youth international, and represented his country in the Uefa European Under-19 Football Championships in Poland in 2006, as Portugal crashed out at the group phase after three draws from three matches.

Both players are expected to agree personal terms with Zaglebie, who were promoted back to the top flight of Polish football this year having been forcibly demoted in 2007 after a match-fixing scandal.
