Portuguese striker Rudy flying high in Belgium“My dream is to play for the Seleccao” Striker Rudy has been one of the revelations of Belgium’s Jupiler League. His five goals make him Cercle Brugge’s top scorer and puts him third in the overall list in the Belgian top flight. The 22-year-old is delighted with his progress and makes no secret of his ambition to make it to the senior Portugal team.
“Everything’s happened very quickly, faster than I expected it to. This means I’m doing well, I’ve been helping the team and that’s the most important thing. I strive to improve myself so that I can achieve my objectives and those of Cercle. My dream is to represent the Portuguese national team, but to do that I have to work hard,” said Rudy.
Cercle Brugge are currently sitting fourth in the league, four points behind Anderlercht, but Rudy, born in Oeiras on the Lisbon coast, is keeping his feet firmly on the ground. “We want to do better than last season; in other words we want to finish higher than ninth and fight to get into Europe. If we are still in the top places near the end of the season, which won’t be easy, we can think about the title. At the moment it is not one of our objectives.”
Rudy feels he has developed well since moving to Belgium. “Today I’m a stronger player. The help of all my team-mates, including my Portuguese ones, has been very important for my adaptation. To play for one of Portugal’s grandes or abroad was always one of my targets. Fortunately I arrived in Belgium more quickly than I was expecting.”

greets from Brugge (cercle brugge de ploeg van het stad ;) )
Thank you for bringing into light some of the Portuguese talent that is spread through Europe.
It seems that we'll strive again and again to call someone a portuguese world class striker!Wilson Eduardo, Rui Fonte and Nelson Oliveira have a lot to do to gain an opportunity and play later to the Seleccao! May be I'm being harsh on them and they're still not mature enough, but what's forcing me to write this is what I saw yesterday against Poland, missing a penalty, and playing for 45 min against a 10 man (weaker) team with no chance to score!
I just hope that tonight's gonna be different and goals will come easily!Forca Portugal!
