Académica shock Sporting to lift Portuguese Cup

Early Marinho goal proves winner for Students

JamorAcadémica pulled of a huge shock in the Portuguese Cup final by beating Sporting and lifting the trophy for the first time since 1939. An early Marinho header put the Coimbra side ahead, and a composed display from Pedro Emanuel's side saw them run out deserved winners. Indeed, the better chances throughout the ninety minutes fell to the men in black.

Last year I watched the document about succesful Academica team on the Eve of the end of Salazar era. Unfortunatelly I cant remind its title, maybe anyone knows? The movie was shown during Portuguese Film Week - festival organized in Warsaw in Poland.
Well Adrien Silva proved what a great player he is

Paulo Bento and Sporting executives are all looking really bad. Paulo Bento deciding to select Carlos Martins and Micael instead of Adrien is a complete joke, but the decision made by the Sporting crew to loan out Adrien and buy Elias for 9.5 mill really is looking awful. I may not know much about football but Elias is not better than Adrien Silva. If Sporting don't want Adrien Silva I want my Braga to sign him point blank. He is hands down one of Sportings best midfielders.
Congratulations Academica

Eddie, the key is to sell players when they are good enough.
Also, didn't Elias play really well and bailed Sporting out on several occasions early in the season? Am I getting him confused with someone else.
Sorry I'm on cell and didn't pull up info.

This is a bad loss for Sporting. A Taca win would have saved a bit of a disappointing season.
Congratulations to Academica. They somehow win the Taca after a horrific season.
Great achievement!

In games where I'm the neutral, I always root for the underdogs. Yesterday, Chelsea won a fantastic game, and today Academica won. Both teams played defensive football, but both teams were also more efficient with their chances.

I was impressed with Adrien, David Simao, and Cedric. If Pablo Aimar and Gaitan are sold this summer, David Simao should have a place on the first team. I really don't want to see him on the B team. As for Adrien, the guy's an excellent all around midfielder, so hopefully he'll be a major part of Sporting's plans next season. He is definitely good enough to start for them.

Cedric also looks like a talented player, and if Joao Pereira is sold to Valencia, Cedric should definitely compete for the starting spot at right back.
Ultimately WELL DONE Academica!

They made Portugal proud! 9 Portuguese in their starting line up including the talented trio Adrien, David Simao, and Cedric. Well done to them! So on second thoughts since they played all those Portuguese I'm happy that they won the competition!
Congrats to Academica

Up to the last second it looked like Sporting would tie it up. I figured that Academica were going to pay for always giving up the ball but they held on for the a very famous title win for their club.

Anyone know if the Taca winner gets the top EL spot meaning that Sporting will have to play in the earlier EL rounds? I know it sucks for Sporting fans but their club has the talent and should have no issue with it. It would be great news for Academica as it could increase their odds of making it to the group stage which will help Portugal's ranking.
Wrong Starting Lineup From Sporting

Carrico should have started instead of Elias. Elias is not good enough for Sporting should be sold. And Ismailov should have started instead of A.Carillo. Elias is bad luck as well anytime he plays Sporting don't take their chances and lose. Get rid of him!!!

I expect both teams to play an entertaining and offensive football. From a betting point, I would say both teams to score and above 2.5 goals.
