Also, didn't Elias play really well and bailed Sporting out on several occasions early in the season? Am I getting him confused with someone else.
Sorry I'm on cell and didn't pull up info.
This is a bad loss for Sporting. A Taca win would have saved a bit of a disappointing season.
Congratulations to Academica. They somehow win the Taca after a horrific season.
I was impressed with Adrien, David Simao, and Cedric. If Pablo Aimar and Gaitan are sold this summer, David Simao should have a place on the first team. I really don't want to see him on the B team. As for Adrien, the guy's an excellent all around midfielder, so hopefully he'll be a major part of Sporting's plans next season. He is definitely good enough to start for them.
Cedric also looks like a talented player, and if Joao Pereira is sold to Valencia, Cedric should definitely compete for the starting spot at right back.
Anyone know if the Taca winner gets the top EL spot meaning that Sporting will have to play in the earlier EL rounds? I know it sucks for Sporting fans but their club has the talent and should have no issue with it. It would be great news for Academica as it could increase their odds of making it to the group stage which will help Portugal's ranking.
