Chaves stun Pacos to make Portuguese Cup semi-finalsPacos de Ferreira 1-2 Desportivo de Chaves There was a shock at the Mata Real last night as Liga Vitalis side Desportivo de Chaves beat last year’s beaten finalists Pacos de Ferreira 2-1 to reach the last four of the competition.
The visitors fully deserved their victory as they were the sharper side throughout. Two goals in the first ten minutes set the team from the northern border town on their way.
In the 2nd minute Diop pounced on a mistake by goalkeeper Cassio to open the scoring the then Carlos Pinto hit a stunning free-kick into the top corner of the net from way out.
Pacos were given a lifeline on 35 minutes as Pacos midfielder Bruno Magalhaes picked up his second yellow card and was sent off but the away team continued to enjoy the better of the play and the chances.
Brazilian striker William halved the deficit shortly after the hour mark, but the Castores were unable to find the equaliser that would have forced extra time.

I kinda hope they get Porto next. Given the CL and them lagging in the league I wouldn't be suprised if Porto under estimated them and fielded a B team. That would give Chaves a great chance at creating an upset. I wish them all the best.
hey gd chaves supporters

For the first time Chaves have made it to the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup!...I wasn't expecting them to go into Pacos and pull out a win...Those two early goals made all the difference...The second is a must see...Pinto is 36-year-old and ran around the field like his 26...I also believe his the top scorer of the Liga Vitials...Not bad for a man whose nearly going to turn 40...Anyways my Grandparnets must be going crazy in Chaves right now lol...Just hope they don't get Porto in the semi-finals
WHAT!?? MY HOMETOWN...SWEET
