Portuguese Cup a must - Beto

Cup win to take edge off unfulfilled season

beto-20090612.jpgIn an attempt to avoid a trophy-less season, FC Porto have their focus firmly planted on lifting the Portuguese Cup as they look to finish off Rio Ave this Wednesday at the Estadio do Dragao.

Having earned a commanding 3-1 victory in the first leg, the Dragoes are confident that they can reach the final in Jamor and try and win their second straight cup and 17th overall.

"We are aware that we have an advantage, but we also have a disadvantage as we have already played three matches against Rio Ave (this season) and there is great familiarity between the two teams, regardless of the result we earned in Vila da Conde. We have a obligation to win this challenge," said Beto on the clubs' official website.

"This is not an easy tie, even if we are holding an advantage. Rio Ave are a strong team and we respect them, but we will be playing in front of our fans in our stadium and we will approach this match with the same levels of expecation."

"One of the team's objectives this season was to, naturally, repeat as Cup champions. That being said, we also want to play well in the matches we have remaining in the season, in order to achieve the best possible table position."

"But in all sincerity, we are not thinking about our adversaries. We are focusing on what we have to do until the end of the season."
