Mourinho happy as Real cruise past Milan

Real Madrid 2-0 Milan

Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the fifth consecutive match as Real Madrid made it three wins from three in Group G of the Champions League with a comfortable victory over Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo opened the scoring on 13 minutes with a free-kick, before providing the assist for Mesut Ozil to make it 2-0 just a minute later. Portugal captain Ronaldo now has seven goals in his last five matches for club and country, while Real already have a 5-point advantage at the top of their section.

“I am happy with the result. I’m happy with the way the team played, happy with the way the team controlled the game and especially happy with the effort of the team,” Mourinho said after the match. “They were fantastic. They played, in my opinion, a very complete match.

“We need to improve in many aspects. In this moment, after three-and-a-half months, I am happy that the team is playing with a high intensity, is defending well and is pressing well. We have a quite good ball possession and I think in the final third of the pitch we must make better decisions.

“I think, because we have players with high quality individually, sometimes they go for the dribble and after the dribble the space is open and the pass has to come, so we must improve our decisions.”

Real Madrid and Portugal are very similar. Casillas is better than Eduardo, Ozil is a million times better than Matins, and Higuain is better than Almeida, but I think Portugal is just good, if not better, on the wings and the defense. Danny is the attacking midfielder we need. Some posters here love him while others don't, but I really don't think that the doubters have seen him play in his true position.

He plays as an attacking midfielder between 2 wingers and behind one striker for Zenit. He is not a Rui Costa type of player who dictates the game with spectacular passing. He is a good passer, but he is a much more direct attacking mid like Joao Pinto. He is very quick and can easily dribble through defenders and create oppertunities with team mates. I know he plays in the Russian League which is similar in terms of quality to the Portuguese League, but he has had man of the match performances against Real Madrid and Manchester United as well. He is without doubt, better than Carlos Martins.

Justin id have to disagree...what about casillas and eduardo...xabi alonso(deep lying playmaker) and khedira (true defensive mid) compared to our midfield which doesnt have any holding mids or a good deep lying playmaker(sorry but veloso doesnt cut it)...Almeida is a center forward who relies on strength and height while higuain is a speed player who likes to get behind the back line also higuian scores 20+ goals for madrid in la liga while almeida struggles to score 10 for werder in the bundesliga....I dont think varela has the passing ability or vision to play in the hole behind the forward he is a winger. Our weakness is in the middle of the field which is troubling....Midfield Forward and Goalie are all problems.....if only we could have Vitor Baia Paulo Sousa Rui Costa Figo and Pauleta in this generation...we would dominate....

Lets hope C-Ron can keep this up. He's looked a lot better under the stewardship of Bento and Real seem to have gelled as a team. I was somewhat cautious abotu Ozil's ability to reproduce his World Cup form with Germany for Real Madrid but he has stepped up and shown than he is capable of playing consistently at a high level. Di Maria, C-Ron, Ozil, Higuain...just complete and utter filth (in a good way of course ;)

Even Miguel was better then Ramos. I agree, Portugal and Real Madrid are similar. I think Higuain is amazing but Almeida is not even close to his level. RM has more options with that center forward. CR and Nani (world class) with the mediocre Almeida is the problem. We need Moutinho or Danny to play like Kaka/Ozil and thats when we'll score more goals. But if you played Portugal vs. Real Madrid right now. CR, Carvalho, Pepe would play for us so we would destroy them.
Portugal vs Real madrid comparisons...

I would like to do a little compare and contrast for you guys really quickly so please be patient and maybe this will open up some eyes. I was speaking my father yesterday about how real madrid and portugal have similar qualities. When you look at the Defense carvalho and pepe make up the back and marcelo is similar to coentrao as both of those players like attacking and can stick with opposing wingers with pace and accurate tackling. The right back for madrid is sergio ramos and when bosingwa is healthy I think he is a better player then ramos. So in theory real madrid and portugal have the same defense. Ronaldo and Di Maria attack on the wings for madrid and on portugal Ronaldo and Nani do the same thing. I think Nani is a little better then Di Maria as of right now too. The players that madrid have that portugal does not is in ozil and higuain. Ozil can attack through the middle which frees up ronaldo and di maria on the outside. Moutinho is a good option but not quite ozil. I would like to see Varela maybe play that attacking center mid spot perhaps instead of moutinho but moutinho played well last time out for portugal. Almeida on his best day is similar to higuain but I like higuain better. What I am trying to get at is that if portugal can find an attacking center mid that can create and penetrate the opposing teams defense their is not much seperating the ALL star team of Madrid to Portugal. I thikn we can all agree that Club Teams are usually better than National teams so with that being said I am optomistic. What do you guys think?

Real Madrid has a great team, a great coach and the best player in the world, they and Barcelona are a mile ahead of anyother teams in the world.

If Real Madrid performs well against Barcelona i will be prepared to say they are the best team in the world again.

Madrid is going to be very tough to beat this year. Ronaldinho was back tracking very slowly. His legs have given up on him these days. AC Milan are like the stars of the last decade. They were turtles moving forward and left huge gaps at the back. CR, Di Maria, and Ozil completely teared them apart. C.Ronaldo in the best form of his life right now. This will be his year of dominance. I hope he stays in form atleast for the Euro.
could happen

he hasnt been in gthis good of form since he scored 44 for united and won the player of the year. messi has been quiet so far this year, and right now i would say he is one of the front runners for player of the year. if he continues to produce at this rate, he should be a lock
Ronaldo!

This team looks dangerous and well organized. Mourinho is doing a very good job so far and they haven't conceded in the Champions League yet. This title race for La Liga will be much more interesting that last. I would of predicted Barca winning it last year but with Mourinho with Madrid it changes everything.

CR7 was obviously the best player on the field scoring the freekick and assisting Ozil, we would love to see more of this from him.
Balon D'Or?

It's like Brazillian Ronaldi, won it, lost it for a bit then won again two times in a row. He needs to regain the title again for all the haters.
RONALDO!

That's 7 goals and 5 assists in 10 total games played for Real Madrid this season. Combine that with his current form for Portugal, and he's well on his way to earning back his title as the world's best.

Forca Ronaldo
