Champions League: Real Madrid ease past Ajax

Real Madrid 3-0 Ajax

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first Champions League goal of the season as Real Madrid saw off Dutch champions Ajax at the Santiago Bernabeu to take control of Group D.

Jose Mourinho brought Ricardo Carvalho back into his defence for the match, but the Portuguese coach was still without Fabio Coentrao and Pepe. Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, played a part in both the opening goals, finishing off a fantastic team move for the first (25’) and setting up Kaka to make it 2-0 five minutes before half time.

Kaka, who retained his place after an impressive showing at the weekend, laid on the third for Karim Benzema early in the second half. The result means Real lead their section with six points from two matches, already five points clear of third-placed Ajax, while their next match sees them take on nearest challengers Lyon in the Spanish capital next month.

Cristiano had struggled a little in his last few games, along with the rest of his teammates. In this game, he was back to his old menacing self and noticeably grew in confidence as the game wore on. Cristiano Ronaldo, as much as I like him, may not be the best player in the world right now (although it's certainly debatable), but he is undoubtedly the finest athlete of his generation and will be a legend regardless.
The Ronaldo I love

That boy Ronaldo, that's the one.
Forget the flickering and what not. This is the Ronaldo I remember from United. Speed, power and precision... I just hope it lasts....
Easy time of it

This Ajax team is a shell of its former self.
Real should have and did win with ease.

On a side note, a lott of talk of Kaka being shipped to Arsenal or PSG. I wouldn't be surprised if Malaga also dipped its foot into the pool.
That being said, Kaka is a very prideful player that will want to prove his worth at Real. He has had a horrible time since joining Real, and wouldn't want to leave as a disapointment.

As usual, tehre have been some surprises.

Inter losing to Trabzonspor at HOME!!!
Man United needed a late goal to draw at home vs Basel!!

Lets see waht today brings.
