Rio Ave bring Hugo Valdir on board

Left-back signed from Standard Liege

Former Sporting youth player Hugo Valdir has signed for Rio Ave. The 25-year-old is delighted to be back in the Portuguese top flight and feels it is the perfect opportunity to re-launch his career.

“Rio Ave’s a great chance for me. The club has excellent people running it and a good coach. It’s the right club to enable me to re-launch my career,” said Valdir. “I’m going to fight for a place in the starting XI.”

Valdir is a product of Sporting’s academy but never played for the Lisbon club. He has represented Ovarense, Estrela da Amadora, Naval, Pacos de Ferreira, Cordoba and Standard Liege.
