Official: Rio Ave lands Bruno Gama

Forward to spend year on loan

Bruno-Gama-Interview.JPGRio Ave have bolstered their offence as the club announced, through their web site, that they have captured forward Bruno Gama. The 21-year-old will join his brother, and assistant coach, Augusto at the Vila do Conde club.

After landing Vitor Gomes, only days ago, Rio Ave have secured the services of the FC Porto product for the upcoming season.

The younger Gama has never been able to solidify a spot with the Portuguese champions and has spent the last two seaons with Vitoria Setubal and one year with Sporting Braga before that in order to gain playing experience.

The former U20 starlet is expected to be formally presented to the media in the coming days.

Remember the great DM Peixe? He was part of the Golden Generation just like Figo, Rui Costa, Joao Pinto & Paulo Sousa... Except unlike the others he disappeared, well it looks like Gama might be the next to disappoint! But Peixe's problem was his attitude, he was seen as selfish & hard to get along with... where as Gama hasn't gotten enough of a chance to play!

I hope this guy turns his career around but currently not boding well for Portugal's young player development. Too many of our players in the U-20 to U-21 are not developing and we'll be further down in the soccer pecking order in the next 4-5 years. Where is the next break thru player?
*sigh*

I remember this guy was suppose to be a future player for Portugal's national team, he was suppose to be pretty special, but he's now with a mid-table Portuguese club. I feel sorry for him.
