Panathinaikos sign ZecaJesualdo Ferreira swoops for Vitoria de Setubal midfielder Attacking midfielder Zeca has signed for Greek giants Panathinaikos for a transfer fee of around 400,000 euros. Playing for lower league side Casa Pia a little over a year ago, the 22-year-old now has a strong chance of taking part in this season’s Champions League.
Panathinaikos coach Jesualdo Ferreira has used his knowledge of the Portuguese market to strengthen the Athens club with the promising midfielder, who impressed in the Portuguese top flight after making the step up to Vitoria Setubal one year ago.
Zeca made a point of thanking everybody at Setubal for helping him take a big step forward in his career. “I want to thank the support of the fans and the way I was treated at Setubal. I wish the club every success. I’m leaving with the aim of winning trophies,” he said.
The transfer is one of three young home-grown talents that have left Portugal in the last couple of days.
La Liga outfit Valencia yesterday signed 20-year-old Braga reserve goalkeeper Cristiano Pereira, while highly rated Rio Ave midfielder Julio Alves also completed his move across the border, joining Atletico Madrid. by Tom Kundert

He went back to Setubal and made sure to say goodbye to all of his teamates and staff. He also thanked Vitoria de Setubal for all they've done for him.
