Official: Hildebrand on way to AlvaladeGerman uses Facebook to announce deal Just when all the smoke had cleared and the dust settled, Sporting have signed former German international goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand.
News had been rampant in Portugal that the former Stuttgart and Valencia 'keeper was due to arrive at the Alvalade, despite the transfer window having closed at midnight last night. But now Hildebrand issued a statement on his Facebook account that he will be flying out to Lisbon to reprsent the Portuguese club. Hildebrand arrives on a free transfer as the shot-stopperwas out of a contract, after rejecting to stay with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. At 31 years of age, Hildebrand brings much needed experience to the Leoes and will, most likely, be an understudy to Sporting's current number one between the posts, Rui Patricio. by Marco Pereira

Nice signing by Sporting on free transfert, even though I think their best goalkeeper are Stojkovic.
