Izmailov facing another operation?

Knee problems resurface to haunt Russian

Marat IzmailovMarat Izmailov has again been left out of Sporting’s squad, for tonight’s trip to Rio Ave, fuelling speculation the midfielder requires yet more surgery on his troublesome knee.

After missing practically the whole of last season, Izmailov has made a promising start to 2011/12. He is currently Sporting’s top scorer, with three goals, but the Russian missed last week’s Europa League victory against FC Zurich and has again been left out of the squad for the Lions’s Liga match in Vila do Conde.

Sporting coach Domingos Paciencia has admitted that Izmailov, who has been plagued by an injury in his right knee, may have to go under the knife again. “Marat continues to complain. It’s a complicated situation for the player, who wants to train and wants to play but can’t because he is in pain.

“Something has to be done. Another operation? The medical department will decide. He may have to face a spell on the sidelines for a longer period to recover, which makes sense, or it may need another solution. We will see. It’s a situation that does not please Marat and does not please us,” said Domingos.

Regardless even if he does play well this guy is just bad news bears he just seems to get injured all the time. Sporting should look for a replacement.

From what I saw of SCP this year, he looked like one their best players, and this will undoubtedly hurt. Hopefully he can rehab with a spell of rest and not another surgery, which could end his career...
