Sinama-Pongolle to join Sporting

Lisbon club continues frenetic transfer activity

sinama_pongolle.jpgThere appears no sign of holiday stoppage for Sporting as the club announced that they have reached an accord, in principle, to bring Atletico Madrid striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle to the Alvalade on a permanent transfer.

The deal is has not been made official yet as the former Liverpool player has yet to undergo routine medical exams, but mandatory tests should not impede the Frenchman from donning the green and white.

After having already signed Mexer and Joao Pereira, Sporting issued a brief statement on the country's stock market stating that a tenative agreement has been established, but wanted to wait for the results of the formal physical to come in before disclosing further details of the deal.

Particulars to follow.

I think he's a pretty good signing and can either play just off Liedson or on the wing.

He has loads of pace which is something Sporting's attack has been lacking this season and he has a pretty decent goalscoring record, especially in his time at Recreativo where he looked like he was really fulfilling his potential.

At Atletico it was never going to be easy competing with Kun, Forlan, Simao & Maxi so his career has stalled somewhat but this is a pretty decent coup for Sporting because he could of easily have gone to a stronger league like back home in France where he still has a pretty good reputation.
Couldnt they sign someone better?
