Sinama-Pongolle out for up to three weeksSporting’s new signing picks up injury on debut French forward Sinama-Pongolle has strained a ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for two to three weeks.
The news comes as a setback to Sporting, who are already without the services of Liedson until mid February. Pongolle could miss up to five matches in all competitions.
The speedy forward made his debut as a second-half substitute in the victory against Leixoes on Saturday, and is expected to quickly establish himself as a regular starter following his big-money move from Atletico
As well as the injured strike duo of Liedson and Pongolle, Sporting will be without the services of midfielder Simon Vukcevic for their trip to Uniao de Leiria in the Carlsberg Cup tomorrow. The Montenegrin has flu.
