Sporting’s Andre Marques heads to GreeceDefender leaves Alvalade Greek side Iraklis have made their second Portuguese swoop this week by agreeing a deal to take Sporting youngster Andre Marques on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old has been out of favour under Carlos Carvalhal in Lisbon, and was told he was free to find a new club during the transfer window. Marques joins Iraklis with the team 12th in the table, but it expected to be installed as a first choice in the team’s defence. It is yet another loan spell for the left-back, who came through the ranks at Sporting. Marques has spent time with Olivais Moscavide, Unaio Leiria and Freamunde, before representing Vitoria Setubal last season ahead of being recalled by the Lions for the current campaign. Portugal international goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes moved to the Thessaloniki club on a loan deal from Bochum earlier this week, while a third Portuguese, 27-year-old midfielder Nuno Piloto, had been with Iraklis since joining last summer from Academica.
