Leiria gearing up for Liga return

Clubs snaps up Amadora pair

Estadio Dr. Magalhaes PessoaUniao de Leiria cannot wait to make their long awaited comeback to the upper echelon of Portuguese football as the club have plucked Vitor Moreno and Hugo Gomes from Estrela da Amadora.

Having only spent one season in the Liga Vitalis, Leiria are happy with the fact that they will be rubbing shoulders with the heavy hitters in Portugal once again and ensure that one of the Euro 2004 showpiece stadiums, Estadio Dr. Magalhaes Pessoa, is also featured.

The club have already started to make plans for the 2009/10 season and have looked to fellow rivals Estrela da Amadora for some necessary re-inforcements.

The tri-color are in shambles, to say the least, with their well documented financial cirisis and players are looking elsewhere to earn wages in order to sustain a living.

Leiria requires experience after a season in the lower division and feels Gomes and Moreno will give the team the necessary balance to stay afloat in the Liga Sagres.

The former Amadora duo will also join Nuno Gomes (Varziim), Helder Godinho (Feirense), Koulibaly (Al-Ittihad) and Mamadi as the club's latest recruits.
