My future will be decided - AlmeidaStriker not ruling out Besiktas move One of the more intriguing transfer stories to have developed is that of Werder Bremen's Hugo Almeida. The striker holds his future in his own hands with his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
In two weeks Almeida will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club he so chooses or wait until the end of the season, say his good-byes, and leave on a free transfer, if he does not re-sign with Bremen. The former FC Porto man has become somewhat of a hot property in Europe due to his physical stature, goal-scoring exploits (11 goals in all compeitions) and, of course, his contract coming to an end with the Bundesliga side. Almeida has been linked with various clubs across the continent such as Lazio, Juventus and even Real Madrid. The Portuguese marksman was close to signing with the Rome-based side, but failed to come to terms regarding salary and the Serie A club ended up walking away from the negotiations. Another club that has been associated with the 26-year-old is Turkey's Besiktas. It was believed earlier this week that Almeida was to follow the lead of his compatriots Ricardo Quaresma and recent acquisition Manuel Fernandes to the Inonu Stadium, but it was not to be. The Portuguese international has not come to any resolution, but told Renascenca that a decision will be made in the coming weeks as to where he will play his club football and is not ruling out the possibiltiy of switching to Besiktas. "My future will be decided in the next few weeks. I still don't know whether I'll leave or stay, but anything is possible," stated Almeida. "News that has been reported is not correct because I never said that that I didn't want to go to Turkey." "Besiktas is a very good team, who have made good signings and have very good players. Next week I will speak to my agent and we will see what is best for me." by Marco Pereira |

I want to remind you of something...
Do you know when Chelsea won their first Premiere League title? 1955... How about the second time? 2005... For a looong period of 50 years, today's one of the greatest football clubs Chelsea have never won a league title.
Things change my friends. Instead of yelling with reasonless anger, enjoy the beautiful game.
With the valuable additions of Guti Hernandez, Ricardo Quaresma, Manuel Fernandes, Simao Sabrosa and yet Hugo Almeida, why wouldn't Besiktas begin to build a new Chelsea incident in the near future?
Would it hurt anyone? No... Let's enjoy then.
Turkey has 1 UEFA Cup. And thats it.
Portugal has 4 European Cups, 1 UEFA Cup and a Cup Winners Cup.
Scotland & Sweden have more European trophies than Turkey does.
And so what about their fanatical fans? The same fanatical fans that killed a Leeds United fan a few years ago in Istanbul?
Sure, Hugo would probably have about half of Turkey to greet him at Istanbul airport, but frankly, who cares?
They have several good teams with a strong history in Europe. The fans of these clubs are very passionate about their football and if their teams want to splash the cash for a Portuguese player then so be it. Forca Portugal!
If he goes to Besiktas then we know he is just a money-hungry man with not much ambition to be a top striker.
If he goes to England, Italy or Spain then we know he is ambitious and hungry to challenge himself in a strong league and develop himself as a player even more.
