West Ham offer Boa Morte new contract

Premier League club look to secure Portuguese

Luis Boa MorteFormer Portugal international Luis Boa Morte looks likely to continue his career with current club West Ham United. The news puts an end to speculation about a possible return to his homeland. Sporting were reported to be keen on bringing him to the Alvalade.
 
The 32-year-old has come to the end of his contract, but the London club are keen to keep the left-sided utility player and have offered him a new deal. Boa Morte has played the whole of his professional career in England, representing Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham.
 
He missed most of 2009/10 after rupturing ligaments in his right knee in pre-season. Boa Morte made a single appearance in the last game of the campaign, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
 
His days at Upton Park then appeared over as he publicly criticised West Ham owner David Sullivan, accusing the director of destabilising the club with his lack of composure.
 
However, things were quickly patched up as Boa Morte apologised for his remarks shortly afterwards, and Sullivan responding by stating: “I greatly admire Luis. He shows passion and like me, it occasionally boils over.”
 
Boa Morte has made 80 appearances for West Ham since signing in January 2007.
