Video: Postiga brace earns Zaragoza winReal Zaragoza 2-0 Real SociedadPostiga, who joined Zaragoza from Sporting in August, had failed to score in his opening five games for his new club, having seen three goals disallowed in recent weeks. However, the 29-year-old opened his account in La Liga in memorable style as Zaragoza climbed to 8th in the Spanish top flight. Postiga was joined in the Zaragoza starting line-up by Fernando Meira, while fellow summer arrival Ruben Micael - on loan from Atletico Madrid - was introduced for the final twenty-five minutes as Zaragoza got back on-track following three matches without a win before the international break. |

I actually agree with that.
The one think that SAF has always stressed to Nani is that he becomes more consistent in his play. That means play the whole match and track back to help. He has been doing just that for Man United, but not the Seleccao.
As for CR7, I understand him not going all out in getting back. Remember that we only have one up top, so him staying around midfield helps keep defenses honest.
We will all come to realize that Bento has brought nothing to the table. Except maybe more incompetence. Tactics have not changed under him at all. And by Seleccao's last two performances, his leadership and motivational skills aren't getting it done either.
Postiga is what he is. He'll shine here and there, but mostly disappoint. Almeida should be getting the nod over him.
Lastly, why are people killing Danny. Even if he was on the squad he would have sat and only be brought in to play wing.
I know that most would love to see him get a shot as attacking mid, his natural position, but it's just not going to happen. Frankly I would't be surprised if he retired from Int'l play.
Nathan, actually the Danish knew that for the most part the only threat the Portuguese posed was crossing the ball into the middle which they did often and unsuccessfully. It was only when someone ran to the bi-line and cut the ball across or back, that the Portuguese had their best chances. Ronaldo played more of a central position and he didn't provide enough width. And also when the Portuguese lost possession, players like Ronaldo and Nani just stood and watched and didn't chase down the Danish players.
The primary problem with the Portuguese team is not who is on the field but the strategy they employ and the lack of motivation.
I do agree that our midfield needs a bit of work since Ronaldo and Nani tend to get double teamed, so if we had someone else in the midfield that could provide better passes it would help our scoring chances.
I’m curious to hear what’s happening with Danny? He didn’t join the team for the last match due to some medical issues and there were rumors of cancer but I would have thought there would have been a great news splash if that was true. I hope he’s alright as I think he’s the perfect player to put behind our striker. I would take Danny over Martins any day.
It would be nice if he could create chances by himself, but he's not that kind of player. Still, I say he's Portugal's first choice striker right now and that we just need to get him better service. That all goes back to our inability to control midfield and we know we have issues there. No midfield control means that our opposition just have to close down the wings which they do by stacking their defense in front of Ronaldo and Nani. They know there is no threat coming up the middle.
Ah, I better stop talking about it. My blood pressure is starting to rise.
The difference between his best and his worst is massive, but Postigas best is devastating. Whatever Rooney can do us portuguese do better!
Hope this gives him condifence to perform for the national team. This guy has been basically a bust except with a few good moments with the national team.
Hope that he has a few good years left to recover for the past 8-9 bad years.
