Bench ronaldo? Are you kidding me? That's an insult to portuguese football and a joke to even consider. The guy is the most talented player this country has ever seen and is arguably the best in the world. Varela is a good player but he is a role player at most for this team right now coming off the bench and he is filling that role nicely. Keep in mind he didn't even start many of porto's games this year so to say he deserves to start over Ronaldo is absurd. If this team can play this good with Ronaldo having a horrible game then once he gets going they have a legitimate chance at winning it all. If varela does get a start it should be over meireles who has yet to impress. Rui Patricio while not being a stellar keeper has done what is asked and for the most part been solid. The back 4 have continued the tradition of being the backbone of the seleccao with Pepe leading the way the man is a beast and is the heart and soul of this team physically, emotionally, and mentally. The midfield minus meireles has been great with veloso going under the radar as perhaps the best performer on this team so far he has been awesome in killing the attack and moving the ball upfield. Up front nani is the primary playmaker while ronaldo will eventually get back to form and prove to be a vital scorer. However postiga while he did score a nice goal today needs to sit for nelson oliveira. Almost evey ball played into Postiga is taken away with ease and he cannot maintain posssesion to save his life while Oliveira plays with much more control and helps to push the tempo. Portugal has looked like one of the better teams of this Euro while still not playing to their full potential, if they can finnaly get it all working they will win it all. FORCA PORTUGAL!!!!
