Opalenica proves the perfect base for Portugal at Euro 2012
As well as an exhilarating performance on the field of play at Euro 2012, Portugal also made a positive impact off the pitch, winning plenty of friends among the populations of the host countries, especially in and around their Opalenica base in Poland.
Local resident Marcin Nowak, who made a point of sharing his memorable experience of “when Portugal came to town” with us, and Andy Brassell, who covered the Selecção at their training camp throughout the tournament, describe how the locals took to the team. |

Portugal 0-0 Spain tactical breakdown
 It is seldom easy to be content, let alone happy, after a defeat. Regardless of one's efforts, there is a distinct feeling that one was found wanting. On the other hand, Phil Jackson, the former NBA coach who led different teams to 11 titles, once said that there were defeats that clearly built a team - the ones where the players had given their all and surrendered their egos on behalf of something bigger than them.
