While I don't always agree with Bento's squad selections, he has gotten the best out of key players like Ronaldo, Nani, and Moutinho. Queiroz made us excellent defensively, but we frequently had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net.
Bento has improved the midfield with the inclusion of Moutinho, a world class midfielder, and he has gotten the trio of Postiga, Nani, and Ronaldo to score goals, while maintaining a strong defense.
At the moment, our only basic weaknesses are defending set pieces and breaking down defensive teams. Daniel Carrico will add muscle to the midfield, and he'll help us defend set pieces.
When trying to break down defensive opposition in qualifying we rely too much on our wingers to create and finish chances. A 4-3-3 lacks a true creator behind the striker. Too bad Danny isn't fit, since he'd bee an excellent option behind the striker. In the euro, we'll be going up against attacking teams, so our counter attacking 4-3-3 should work well. However in the world cup qualifying, we'll have to use Danny or even a winger like Nani behind the center forward to provide creativity in the midfield.
