Porto made to work hard for Portuguese Cup triumph
FC Porto 2-1 Desportivo de Chaves
As expected, overwhelming favourites FC Porto beat Desportivo de Chaves to win their 15th Portuguese Cup at a sun-drenched Jamor stadium this afternoon.
Two first-half goals from Guarin and Falcao put the Dragons in control. A late strike from Clemente ultimately proved in vain but was just reward for a brave effort from the lower league club. |

Chaves boss Tulipa eyes Portuguese Cup shock
“This is a competition that throws up big surprises”
The Portuguese Cup final takes place on Sunday in what will be a classic David versus Goliath clash. Desportivo de Chaves, despite suffering relegation to the third tier of the Portuguese league, have battled through to their first ever final and will take on holders FC Porto.
To get to the final Chaves had to beat two top-flight teams in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, Pacos de Ferreira and Naval respectively. Coach Tulipa, a cup winner himself in his playing days with Boavista in 1997, believes the match is anything but a forgone conclusion. |

Ruthless Porto march into Cup final
FC Porto 4-0 Rio Ave (aggregate 7-1)
Portuguese Cup holders FC Porto will defend their title in the final against Desportivo de Chaves after comfortably seeing off the challenge of Rio Ave tonight. Goals from Belluschi, Guarin, Ruben Micael and Falcao gave the Dragons a comprehensive 4-0 victory on the night and a 7-1 aggregate win. |

Chaves stun Naval to make Portuguese Cup final

Second-division strugglers Desportivo de Chaves are in the final of the Portuguese Cup for the first time in their history. Two goals in extra time beat Naval in Figueira da Foz, who had levelled the tie early through a Fabio Junior goal. |
