Estrela da Amadora demoted to Divsion IIBelenenses to return to top flight
The financial situation that has engulfed the club is common knowledge and the Liga had decided that enough was enough and felt they had no other recourse. Amadora president Antonio Oliveira had the opportunity to present to the Liga that the club was indeed solvent, but the footballing body felt that the club did not in fact prove that it met the necessary requirments to fulfill their monetary obligations. Much to Amadora's demise, a door has opened for Belenenses as the Belem side have been granted promotion back to the Liga Sagres. The Azuis finsihed in 15th spot in the table last season, relegating them to the Liga Vitalis, but will now take Amadora's place in the Portuguese top flight. by Marco Pereira |

The Portuguese Professional Football League have announced that Estrela da Amdora have been relegated to Dvision II as a result of not having their finances in order and have decided to punish the club by sending them down two divisions.

I was heartbroken to see Santa Clara stay in Vitalis...
Wish it were them who were promoted instead.
