Memorable season far from finished
Title, Europa League place and relegation to be decided in final round
The weekend’s fixture list in Portugal was dominated by the Clássico, which produced an intense match with an astonishing climax that leaves Porto on the cusp of a third successive championship. But there were plenty of other significant results on the weekend, including Paços de Ferreira booking their place in the Champions League. Nevertheless, most of the important outcomes from 2012/13 will only be known when the final whistle goes at the end of the last set of fixtures next week. PortuGOAL rounds up what’s still at stake. |

FC Porto v Benfica, live from the Estádio do Dragão
Title showdown
Portugal will come to a standstill at 8.30 pm on Saturday night, as FC Porto host Benfica in the knowledge that victory will put them on the verge of a third successive championship title. Benfica, still unbeaten in the liga, like Porto, can win the title tonight with a win, but a draw will also almost certainly give the Eagles the crown with one round to go. |

 All attentions in the Portuguese capital are today firmly focused on the Benfica v Sporting derby. The Eagles are aiming to take an important step towards a Liga championship triumph, but Sporting are also in desperate need of points as they aim to snatch a European berth.

Boavista back in the top flight in 2013/14
Liga to increase to 18 teams to accommodate Porto club
The Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) today voted to allow Boavista back into the top flight. The Axadrezados will be playing in an enlarged 18-team Liga ZON Sagres next season, after a five-year absence from the upper echelons of Portuguese football. |
