Portugal team-mates impressed with debutant Raphael Guerreiro

Portugal midfielder Tiago and goalkeeper Beto showered debutant Raphael Guerreiro with praise after the left-back's impressive debut in last night's victory over Armenia in the Algarve.

Speaking to PortuGOAL, Tiago pointed out the importance of having a "good mix of young and old players", while Beto said he sees a "very very good player" in Guerreiro.

Tiago said: "I'm very happy to be with the Seleção again after four years away. We have an excellent group. The mix between very good young players and older ones is very important. I think they need our help (from the experienced players), and we take off the pressure for them.

"It was a hard game, a very difficult game. Armenia fought a lot. They put a lot of players at the back and defended very well. We were very happy to get the goal and the win."

Beto: "What is difference since the appointment of Fernando Santos? The only difference is that we are winning. I'm glad for my country and my team that we are winning now.

"We are on the road to Euro 2016. We are growing and improving as a team.

"I saw a couple of games of Raphael Guerreiro in France and I saw he is a very very good player. He's going to grow with us, but he played a very very good game tonight, very confident, with a good rhythm. I enjoyed watching him play."

Beto also expressed his delight at his club situation saying "Sevilla is good for me, I've given my best to Sevilla - it was a very good marriage!"
