Braga beat Vitória de Guimarães 1-0 in a dull Minho derby at the Quarry.
Victor Gomez hit the post in the 34th minute and Pau Victor's shot was saved by Oliwier Zych on the stroke of half-time.
Referee André Narciso awarded the hosts a penalty after Óscar Rivas was ruled to have fouled Victor, the decision eventually overturned.
The contest was heading to a bore draw before the deadlock was broken in the 79th minute. Diego Rodrigues got past Rivas and slammed a low drive that deflected off Zych and into the roof of the net.
It was far from a classic, Braga doing their best to dissuade anyone from watching them play. They haven’t been helped by an injury to Ricardo Horta who has missed the previous three games.
Their defence can’t be questioned however, Carlos Vicens’ side condeding just two goals in eight matches this season. Guimarães hardly looked like scoring, registering just 0.28 xG and two shots on target.
