Portuguese international André Silva is on the verge of completing a move to Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco from Italians AC Milan after the clubs agreed a deal for the striker.
Silva left Milan’s training camp in Boston, United States, on Sunday to travel back to Europe where he will finalise the move to the Ligue 1 side, according to reports from Italy. The fee for the former FC Porto frontman is believed to be in the region of €30m with bonuses included.
The 23-year-old arrived at Milan for an outlay of €38m from FC Porto two years ago, but an ineffective first season at the San Siro saw Silva loaned to Spanish outfit Sevilla last summer. Silva’s early impact in La Liga, which saw him score a hat-trick in a victory over Real Madrid, led to the Andalusian side announcing that the move would be made permanent.
However, the second half of the campaign proved difficult for the Portuguese, with injuries and a loss of form compounded when Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros publicly derided Silva for perceived feigning of injuries. Silva returned to Milan at the end of the season and speculation over his future has persisted since.

The pending move to Monaco will see Silva work under Portuguese coach Leonard Jardim, as well as playing alongside compatriots Gelson Martins and Rony Lopes. Jardim’s side are rebuilding after a disastrous season last term, during which the former Sporting boss was sacked in October and reinstated in January as Monaco narrowly avoided relegation.
